Retirement isn't the end for Tellefson
After 30 years of service, the Chief Deputy of Rock County is handing in his badge but he isn't ready to retire yet. Already Jeff Tellefson, who will retire from the department April 2, has made plans to teach part-time at Blackhawk Technical College and is speaking with other colleges about teaching management and Criminal Justice courses. At the age of 50, he said he's young enough still to take on another full time job if one appeals, and plans to continue serving the community in some capacity if not through work, through volunteering.

Divers fume at proposals for reserve permits
March 9, 2004 By Melanie Gosling Scuba divers are angry at government proposals to make them pay for permits to dive in marine reserves which they say will seriously damage the industry and do nothing to protect the underwater environment. They have also questioned why only scuba divers have been targeted while there are no proposals to permit other recreational users of marine protected areas like snorkellers, surfers, bathers, windsurfers, boaters or yachtsman. They believe if the motive is to try to stamp out rock lobster and perlemoen poaching, only stepped-up law enforcement will stop it.

Sokor advisory cites RP as 'dangerous' place
The South Korean government has classi-fied the Philippines a "dangerous" country and admonished its citizens on the possible threats of violence here. In a travel advisory updated over the weekend, the Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry advised its citizens to behave cautiously and urged them to keep personal safety measures in mind while in the Philippines. South Koreans make up the most number of tourists in the Philippines next to Americans, Japanese and Chinese. The ministry posted an alert warning level 1 for tourists traveling in the country, requesting them to watch out for changes in the warning level.
